Accessibility and transparency on our use of AI
Digital inclusion matters to us. On this page, we explain in plain language what CONNY does, how accessible our website is and how we use artificial intelligence.
Information in plain language
Who we are
Our name is CONNY. Our website is conny.de. We are a company in Berlin, in Germany. You can reach us by email: info@conny.de.
What we do
Many people pay too much rent. There is a law against this. The law is called the Mietpreisbremse. In English, this means "rent brake". We help you use this right. Then you pay less rent.
How it works
- You enter details about your flat and your rent.
- We check if your rent is too high.
- We write to your landlord.
- If needed, we go to court for you.
- You only pay if we are successful.
Your benefits
- The check is free.
- You have no cost risk. If we are not successful, you pay nothing.
- You do not have to argue with your landlord yourself.
- Everything is easy and online.
Your rights
- You decide if you want to work with us.
- You can ask us questions at any time.
- We explain everything as simply as possible.
Accessibility statement
CONNY is committed to making its website accessible. The legal basis is the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG) in conjunction with the German Accessible Information Technology Ordinance (Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung, BITV 2.0) and Directive (EU) 2016/2102. Our benchmark is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at conformance level AA.
Compliance status
This website is partially compliant with the requirements listed above. We are revising our pages step by step and continuously removing existing barriers.
What is already accessible
Across our pages, we increasingly ensure:
- a clear, semantic structure with a logical heading hierarchy,
- keyboard operability of core functions,
- sufficient colour contrast in our current page design,
- a responsive layout that remains usable even at high zoom levels,
- clear language and, where appropriate, explanations in plain language.
What is not yet fully accessible
The following limitations currently still exist:
- Not all images and graphics have meaningful alternative text yet.
- Some colour contrasts do not yet consistently meet the required values.
- Keyboard operation and visible focus indicators are not yet complete on all pages.
- A skip link to the main content is not yet available on every page.
- Some forms are not yet clearly labelled or do not present error messages accessibly.
- Some embedded PDF documents have not yet been made accessible.
- Some videos are still missing subtitles.
- Some older pages still contain duplicate element IDs, inconsistent ARIA attributes or a suboptimal heading order.
What we are working on
We are continuously improving accessibility. Specifically, this means:
- step-by-step revision of all page templates (alternative text, contrast, focus, skip links, form labels),
- regular testing with recognised tools, supplemented by manual checks,
- the goal of consistently meeting WCAG 2.1 conformance level AA.
Your feedback helps us a great deal and feeds directly into these improvements.

Transparency on our use of artificial intelligence
We use digital and, in part, AI-assisted processes to help you enforce your rights quickly and easily. In line with the European Artificial Intelligence Regulation (EU AI Act), we openly explain where and how we do this.
The legal framework: the EU AI Act
With the AI Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/1689), the European Union has created the world's first comprehensive legal framework for artificial intelligence. It entered into force on 1 August 2024 and applies in stages. The AI Act follows a risk-based approach and divides AI systems into four categories:
- Unacceptable risk: prohibited, for example social scoring.
- High risk: strict obligations, for example for AI used in recruitment or credit decisions.
- Limited risk: mainly transparency obligations.
- Minimal risk: no specific requirements.
Key dates: since February 2025, certain practices have been prohibited and companies must ensure their staff have sufficient AI literacy. From 2 August 2026, companies must, in certain cases, clearly disclose when people are interacting with an AI system or when content has been generated with the help of AI.
For a continuously updated overview of the AI Act, including the full text of the regulation, see the independent information site artificialintelligenceact.eu.
How CONNY uses AI
- Initial assessment: Based on the information you provide, our in-house software automatically checks whether your rent may be too high and how good your chances of success are.
- More efficient processes: Recurring steps are supported and accelerated, so processing takes minutes instead of hours.
These supporting functions are designed to give you quick guidance and, in our assessment, fall within the limited to minimal risk categories. They do not make binding legal decisions.
Our principles
- Humans decide: Legally relevant decisions are made by, and are the responsibility of, qualified staff or our partner lawyers. No decision with legal effect is ever made solely by automated means without human oversight.
- Transparency: Wherever you interact directly with an AI system, we make this clear.
- AI literacy: We make sure our staff know how to use AI responsibly.
- Data protection: Our privacy policy continues to apply to the processing of your personal data.
