Enforcing the rent control
Max, Sebastian and Alexander were glad to have found a suitable flat share. But when signing the contract, they were presented with a dubious modernisation agreement that raised the rent by €600. Read here how they fought back. Andreas enforced his right to a fair rent using the rent control and now saves €120 a month on rent. Andreas instructed CONNY to apply the rent control for him and now saves €410 per month. Caleb saves €115 per month after a rent reduction under the rent control. Diego checked the rent with CONNY right after he moved in. And it paid off! "Everyone should stand up against extortionate rents. If you don't do it for yourself, at least do it for the tenants who come after you. There's also no risk whatsoever, because you don't have to pay anything if it's unsuccessful in the end." Helena instructed CONNY to apply the rent control and now saves €116 on rent every month. Julia instructed CONNY to apply the rent control right after the Berlin rent cap (Mietendeckel) was overturned. She hopes to once again pay a significantly lower rent. With CONNY, Kamilla saves €576 per month on rent thanks to the rent control. Katharina successfully applied the rent control with CONNY and reduced her rent by €233 per month. The four-person flat share Lara lives in had the feeling from the very start that they were paying too much rent. During the coronavirus pandemic, money suddenly got tight and they decided to reduce their rent. The result was a record-breaking rent saving of €694 per month.
Lars saves €214 per month thanks to CONNY and the rent control. Lilli enforced her right to a fair rent using the rent control and now pays €150 less in rent per month. Maha applied the rent control with CONNY and saves €704 on rent every month. Mario also reduced his rent by €120 per month by applying the rent control with CONNY. Richard was unsure whether he should reduce his rent, as he didn't want to strain the relationship with his landlord. But after a phone call, he was convinced. Sara's landlord was charging significantly more rent than legally permitted. In her view, this behaviour is almost criminal: "Looking at it that way, my landlord stole 346 euros from me every month - and I didn't even notice!" Silvia's first attempt to reduce her rent with the help of the tenants' association was unfortunately unsuccessful. Her second attempt went better, and she was able to reduce her rent by €140.
Tamás saves €190 per month on rent after applying the rent control with CONNY. Timothy was not familiar with the German legal system. But with CONNY he managed to reduce his rent by 20 %. Tom's flatmate's brother told him about CONNY and the rent control. After the rent was checked, it turned out they were paying significantly too much. Volodymyr was able to reduce his rent by a third with the help of the rent control. He says that the sooner you activate it, the more money you can save.

Bernhard fights off a rent increase
